As Headline Sponsor of the CIPD People Management Awards 2016, Resource Management, part of the RSG Group, ran a 'How to Win an Award' Breakfast Briefing on Wednesday 16th March in London.

The event was aimed at those considering entering the Awards to give them a better insight into what the judges are looking for. The session included an intro from RM's Jonny Hiles and was followed by Tracey McDermott from the CIPD. Charles Cotton and Katerina Rudiger, both CIPD judges on the Awards panel, then provided some 'Hints and Tips' as well as the format of the judging process.

The final session of the seminar was a panel discussion, moderated by The HR World’s Business Manager Tom Parnell, and included the two CIPD judges as well as two of last year’s previous winners; Kate Miller from Bourne Leisure and Amina Graham from RHP UK. The session proved highly informative and incorporated an interactive Q&A session. Some of the key quotes and tips to come out of the event are as follows:

  • “Just be Human. Think about it as if you were telling a friend.” – 2016 CIPD’s judge, Katerina Rudiger, on how to write a winning entry for the PMA’s.
  • “What challenges have your company faced and how have you overcome them?” – Last year’s judges on the key questions you need to answer to win a PMA.
  • “It was the best motivator…” – Amina Graham of RHP UK, last year’s previous winner, on what it was like to win a PMA.
