Our parent company RSG has raised over £4,000 by taking part in The Prince’s Trust Future Steps challenge. The event sought to challenge teams of employees across to walk as many steps as possible in the month of September whilst raising money for the Prince's Trust - RSG’s chosen charity which supports disadvantaged young people across the UK in their journey through education and into work.
Over 50 RSG employees took part in the challenge and a target of one million steps per team was set. In total, RSG clocked up 15,918,603 steps total which virtually took us all the way to Bali, Indonesia with an average step count of 1,224,508 steps per team. The winning team, And In Last Place, managed to score 2,096,054 steps, the equivalent of walking to Warsaw, Poland.
Adam Meadows, RSG Managing Director and CSR sponsor, said: “One million steps in a month between just 4 people is a big challenge but when a charity like The Prince’s Trust is the beneficiary, it is a challenge worth meeting. Well done to all of our staff who between them walked over 15 million steps and raised over £4,000 for this great cause.”
£4,000 could support 16 young people, like Willow, to take part in The Trust’s Achieve programme. 50,000 young people leave school each year without progressing into further education or employment, and this transition from childhood to adulthood is a pivotal moment in many young lives.
Achieve is part of The Trust’s approach to early intervention through education and inspires 11 – 19 year olds to discover their talents and passions, when mainstream education may be proving challenging and de-motivating. Through a flexible, modular structure combined with one-to-one support and practical learning projects young people improve their attendance, behaviour and attainment, whilst developing the skills and confidence they need to reengage with education and learning and ultimately reach their goals.
“We want to say a huge thank you to all the team at RSG who took on this amazing challenge to support our work and for all their efforts in raising a fantastic amount for The Trust.” Claire Quigley, Senior Head of Corporate Partnership.
RSG have held many charitable events in the past in aid of The Prince’s Trust, including dress down days, sports matches, and bake sales in addition to hosting CV workshops and mock interviews for young people.
